Product Introduction
Storage Type

Storage Types

US3 provides three types of storage: standard, infrequent, and archival. They are respectively used for frequently accessed hot data, infrequently accessed backup data, and archival data suitable for long-term storage, comprehensively covering various data storage scenarios from hot to cold.

Standard Storage

Standard storage provides highly reliable, highly available, and high-performance object storage services, with high throughput and low latency service response capabilities, able to support frequent access to hot data.

Key Features:

Data Durability: 99.999999999% Availability: 99.95% Access: Real-time access Application Scenarios: Various social, shareable images, audio and video applications, large websites, big data analysis, mobile applications, game programs

Infrequent Access Storage

The Infrequent Access Storage type provides a highly reliable object storage service with lower storage costs and lower access latency, suitable for storing infrequently accessed data over the long term. The unit cost is lower than the standard type, infrequent access storage has a minimum storage time and smallest object size, and a certain fee will be charged if it is deleted in less than 30 days of storage. If the size of a single file is less than 64KB, it will be calculated as 64KB, and a fee will be charged for data acquisition.

Key Features:

Data Durability: 99.999999999% Availability: 99.9% Access: Real-time access Application Scenarios: Various mobile applications, smart devices, government and enterprise business data, long-term backup of enterprise data, support for real-time data access

Archival Storage

Archival storage type provides high-reliability, extremely low-cost, and long-term cold data storage offline, suitable for archiving data (recommended for over half a year), which is rarely accessed within the storage period. It has the lowest unit cost among the three types of storage, archival storage requires minimum storage time and object size. A certain fee will be charged If a file with a storage time less than 60 days is deleted. If the file size is less than 64KB, it will be calculated as 64KB and a fee will be charged for data acquisition. Currently, archival type availability zones are limited to mainland China (North China 1, North China 2, Shanghai, Guangzhou).

Key Features:

Data Durability: 99.999999999% Availability: 99.9% Access: Prior defrosting needed, it takes different waiting times to recover from freezing state to readable state according to the file size and defrosting type, please refer to the product pricing supplementary instructions Application Scenarios: Long-term archive data, compliance file archives, medical imaging, scientific data, film and television materials

Storage Type Conversion

Automatic conversion of the following storage types is supported:

  1. Standard storage to Infrequent Access Storage

  2. Standard storage to Archival Storage

  3. Infrequent Access Storage to Archival Storage

Note:

  1. For files that need to be reconverted from the archival type to the standard type or infrequent access type, and the infrequent access type files to standard type files, the storage type conversion can be achieved by re-uploading the file and specifying the corresponding storage type.
For example, if a user needs to convert a file that has been stored as an infrequent access type back to a standard type, the user can re-upload the file and specify the standard storage type at the time of upload. The newly written file is of the standard storage type.

  2. For files that have been dumped as archival files, the RESTORE operation must be executed first to thaw them into a readable state before they can be read.
