Troubleshooting Certificate Application Failures

Troubleshooting Certificate Application Failure

DV Type Certificate

1. Why does the certificate I applied for prompt “security review failed”?

Because the verification level of DV certificates is relatively low, to prevent domains suspected of phishing from applying for SSL certificates for phishing attacks, the CA sets up a series of rules to reject suspicious domain names from applying for DV certificates. The specific rules are not public, for example, if domain names contain sensitive words like bank, pay and other financial payment related words, or even names related to well-known websites like Google, or some other domain blacklists (malicious domains), white lists (well-known domains), etc., they may all be refused to apply for DV certificates. In this case, you can only apply for paid OV or EV certificates.

Specific keyword rules include: test, live, bank, fund, wallet, pay, lv, nuclear, .pw domain, etc.

Some globally well-known companies register trademarks, domain names, etc., such as: google, microsoft, apple, etc.

Solution

It is recommended to firstly change the host name part of the domain name and try to submit the order again. If this error is prompted after changing the host name several times, it is suggested to choose other paid certificate products, or choose to change the main domain name to apply the certificate.
