What is UGN Cloud Network?

Cloud Network (UCloud Global Global Network) is a new generation of global network product launched by UCloud Global based on Segment Routing technology, which can help users quickly and flexibly build a global enterprise-level network and realize global interconnection and interoperability of cloud resources.

Typical use scenarios of the Cloud Network are as follows:

  1. High-speed and stable intranet interconnection between VPCs:
  • Deployment of multi-regional businesses in the online education/live streaming industry, requiring real-time synchronization of audio and video systems
  • The game acceleration industry requires multi-regional intranet interconnection to realize high-speed and stable communication
  • Businesses deployed in multiple locations, requiring multi-regional disaster recovery support
  1. Intranet interconnection between VPC and cloud private sites (currently supports UWAN and hosting network access, the remaining scenarios are gradually being developed, please stay tuned):
  • Network interconnection among multiple stores
  • Multiple private sites/offices are interconnected with cloud VPC resources
  • Cross-border/regional office and business data synchronization

Components of Cloud Network

The Cloud Network (UCloud Global Global Network, UGN) product is a new generation of global network service product launched by UCloud Global based on Segment Routing technology. It enables users to build a customer private network that integrates cloud and local resources, including interconnections between different regional VPCs, VPCs and local data centers, hosted networks, and ECN networks. It helps users build a global enterprise-level network.

Cloud Network is a project-level product, and multiple Cloud Network instances can be created under a project; Cloud Network instances do not have regional attributes and are global products.

Components of the Cloud Network include:

  • Cloud Network Instances: Cloud Network instances are the basis for creating and managing integrated smart cloud networks. A single Cloud Network instance can contain one or more associated network instance types, such as: Private Network Instance UVPC, UWAN Virtual Router, Hosted Virtual Router, etc.

  • Network Instances: Cloud Network supports multiple types of network instances, allowing for user cloud resource intercommunication, cross-regional resource intercommunication, and cloud and local resource interconnection such as multi-branch sites with VPC networks, hosted/IDC networks.

    • Private Network Instance UVPC: A public cloud customer’s customized private network product, associated with the Cloud Network can achieve cross VPC communication and cross-regional network communication.
    • UWAN Virtual Router: An SDWAN access service, deployed at the core nodes of UCloud Global backbone network, interconnected with the global backbone network in the north, and connected to the user’s private site’s own equipment or rented UCloud Global CPE smart gateway via the Internet and dedicated lines in the south, providing intelligent network functions such as nearby access, encrypted transmission, and one-click interconnection for various business outlets and branches.
    • Hosted Virtual Router: Deployed at various UCloud Global hosting business nodes, docking customer hosting business, can be easily associated to the Cloud Network for hosting business to the cloud.
  • Bandwidth Package: After the user creates the Cloud Network and adds network instances to the Cloud Network, a bandwidth package needs to be bound to facilitate multi-instance communication.

    • City Bandwidth Package: City bandwidth package is unlimited and free. If the user’s network instance belongs to the same region, joining the Cloud Network can realize the same region business communication.
    • Cross-domain Bandwidth Package: If a user’s network instance belongs to different regions, the user needs to bind the cross-domain bandwidth package of the Cloud Network to carry out normal business communication. Users need to open point-to-point cross-domain bandwidth packages according to their network instance location, in order to achieve cross-domain data forwarding. Currently, the system provides a default 5kbps free bandwidth package for testing connectivity.

Application Scenarios

Cloud Resource Inter-access in the Same Domain

Multiple services in the same region need to realize logical interconnection and intercommunication. Business data transmission is directly related to customer business and it is necessary to ensure the confidentiality, security, and transmission reliability of data. At the same time, it needs to support efficient operation and maintenance work scenarios such as flexible configuration, switching, access control, etc. for the business.

Solution

  • Deploy multiple VPC instances in a single region;

  • Deploy Cloud Network instance, load all VPC instances in this region to build access for VPCs in the same region;

Inter-access of Cross-domain Resources on the Cloud

Public cloud resources are distributed worldwide, services need to interconnect and intercommunicate logically. Business data transmission directly relates to customer business and it is necessary to ensure the confidentiality, security, and transmission reliability of data. At the same time, it needs to support efficient operation and maintenance work scenarios such as flexible configuration, switching, access control, etc. for the business.

Solution

  • Deploy VPC instances in multiple regions;

  • Deploy Cloud Network instance, load all global VPC instances to build cross-regional access;

  • Smart routing service allows users to choose the lowest latency path to avoid business impairment caused by detouring the network;
